The American Battle Monuments Commission will host Faces of St. Mihiel American Cemetery, a commemorative event marking the anniversary of the World War I Saint-Mihiel Offensive. 

From Sept. 11 to 14, more than 1,000 photographs will be displayed across St. Mihiel American Cemetery, offering visitors a visual tribute to the service members buried or memorialized at the site. The installation will remain on display throughout the anniversary weekend, and is open to the public. No advance booking is required. 

“This display brings a personal dimension to the cemetery,” said Tom Cavaness, superintendent of St. Mihiel American Cemetery. “Each photograph represents a life and a story, allowing visitors to better understand the service and sacrifice of those commemorated here.” 

Located in Thiaucourt, France, St. Mihiel American Cemetery honors American service members who lost their lives during the First World War, most during the St. Mihiel Offensive in September 1918. 

The American Battle Monuments Commission sites are a constant reminder of Gen. John J. Pershing’s promise that, “time will not dim the glory of their deeds.”
